Unique Gifts For Book Lovers
1. Books!
I’m Sorry I had to. Books may not seem unique, but I can guarantee that any book lover would love a book as a gift. You can also include one in your gift basket for them as filler.
Bestsellers and TBR
You can check their TBR, which is their to-be-read list. If you can access their Goodreads or Fable account, there will be a wish list or “want to read” section, or they may have a wish list on Amazon. If you don’t have either, you can always check the best-sellers in their favourite genre. You can keep the receipt so they can return it if they already have it.
Collectors Editions
Does the person you’re getting this for talk about one book endlessly? I know I do with Fourth Wing. Then, a collector’s edition of their favourite book might be the perfect gift for them. You can often find them online or even someone who rebinds books on Etsy – making the book extra special and unique.
2. Book Accessories
Bookmarks
Unless your reader is strictly on Kindle, they’ll love a personalized bookmark. When looking for gifts, it’s always nice to support small businesses. So here’s a nice leather bookmark here, and if you’d like a funny bookmark here.
Book Light
My book light has helped me so much when I read physical copies because I don’t have to sit directly under a lamp. This is a great gift any bookworm would love to have. Mine has to sit on the book, and it can be annoying to move, and I wouldn’t say I like that it has the potential to damage the book. So, I included one that doesn’t need to sit on the book.
Custom Book Stamps
A custom book stamp or embosser is a unique gift that any book lover will love! With it, they can mark all their books, making their reading experience special. I have a book embosser myself because I don’t need ink to use it.
Book Sleeve
You want your book or Kindle to be protected when you’re on the go. I included a cute book and Kindle sleeve made by small businesses on Etsy.
Book Pillow
If I had a nickel for every time my arms or wrists fell asleep while reading, I’d have enough money to buy more books. That’s why I included this reading pillow (it says gaming pillow, but it’ll work for reading, too). It’s better because it has an armrest in the front so the reader in your life can read comfortably.
3. Reading Technology
E-Reader
Now, if the book lover in your life reads physical copies and has always dreamed of having an e-reader like a Kindle or Kobo – this could be the perfect time for you to spoil them. I got a Kindle last year and haven’t looked back since; I rarely get physical books because the e-reader is so much easier. You don’t need light at night, and during the day, when it’s sunny, there’s no glare. They can get a subscription to this service and tons of free books on Kindle Unlimited or Kobo Plus.
Audiobooks
An audiobook or subscription is another great gift idea. Audiobooks are great for when you’re doing things that you can’t read simultaneously. I listen when cleaning, walking the dogs, or I’m too tired to focus on text.
4. Creating A Cozy Book Nook
Every reader has their favourite place to read. It may be outside, but it’s nice to have a cozy place to curl up in and dive into your book on days it’s raining. Accessories for a book nook are a great, unique gift for readers.
Reading Blanket
You can always get a nice new blanket if they already have their cozy space. I’ve included one that is unique and made by a small business on Etsy. Here and here.
Comfy Chairs
A comfy chair is an excellent addition to any book nook. I’ve included a couple here and here.
5. Book Themed Merch and Decor
Book Themed Candles
Candles add the perfect ambiance to any reading space. Why not take it up a notch and have a book-themed candle? Here’s some on Etsy.
Bookish Apparel
Getting merch inspired by someone’s favourite book is a great gift idea. Readers love wearing apparel related to their favourite books (mostly because when people ask about it, we can talk more about them). There’s some adorable ones on Etsy, specifically themed for a fav book or just book related.
Posters Or Prints
I think I speak for every book lover when I say we love getting posters and prints of our favourite books. They’re the perfect addition to a reading nook and add some personality to the room. They’re also relatively cheap, and you can even get them on Etsy as downloadables, so you can print them yourself.
6. Book Box Subscriptions
I have yet to get a book box subscription, but I see plenty of other readers taking advantage of these, and they look so cute! You could send them the one or have a recurring subscription. Either way, any book lover would love to receive a book box.
7. Reading Journal
A journal for books and reading is the perfect companion for any bookworm in your life. Although they may keep track electronically, there’s a certain character to doing it physically and having something to look back on. I love having a reading journal handy to keep track of what I want to say in my reviews on this blog, but you don’t need to be a professional to keep notes. They’re especially helpful in high fantasy books.
8. Bookstore Gift Card
Now, if you’ve gone through this list and still don’t know what to get them, you could always get them a gift card and allow them to pick themselves. I’d suggest helping a small local bookstore and getting a gift card from them. If there’s anything we readers love to do, it’s spend a day going to the bookstore and getting coffee. Maybe you could take them to the bookstore yourself and treat them there?
I hope these unique gift ideas for book lovers have inspired you to find the perfect present for the readers in your life. Whether it’s their birthday, Christmas, or an anniversary—no matter the occasion—these gifts will bring joy to any book enthusiast. Happy gifting!
